Matthew 11:12, “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.”

The kingdom of Heaven is not a place for the timid.  It is forcing its way forward, advancing steadily upon the gates of hell, and strong, forceful men and women are joining its ranks.

But is that what we see happening within the Kingdom today in the suburbs of America?  There is no vision of might, no conquering spirit.  On the one hand, we praise the dedication of our country’s forefathers who so believed in the cause of freedom as to willingly give up home, security, family, and life to insure that future generations would live free.  Oh, what sacrifices they made!

But look at us!  We give a percentage of our abundance and call it sacrifice.  We quake with fear to invite a friend to come to church, and breathe a sigh of relief on completing our Christian duty.  If they tell us “No” we suffer a mortal wound, and feel persecuted.

For the church today to forcefully advance, strong and forceful men and women must take hold of it again.  Men and women who are not afraid of pain.  Men and women of conviction, who are willing to sacrifice home, comfort, even life, to secure real freedom for their children and grandchildren.

What the kingdom needs are warriors!
